Welcome to Ness Publishing

In 2007 Ness Publishing embarked on an ambitious project to photograph and produce a series of regional, photographically illustrated books about Scotland. The first four books in the Pictorial Souvenir series published in May 2008 followed by another four in April 2009. The next five books publish in May 2010.

The series encapsulates the beauty, drama and charm of each area of Scotland. The books are particularly attractive to those who are visiting the area for the first time, those who are returning for another taste, Scots living abroad or those who have family connections with Scotland. Local people often buy them to give as presents. They encourage the reader to seek out places that they might otherwise miss and provide a lasting record of the beauties of the region.

Owners of the company, Colin and Eithne (pronounced Aina) Nutt, have a wide experience of book production having been in the publishing business for over 30 years. As the business moved further into the field of illustrated books about places of interest, Colin became increasingly involved in photography and began to take the pictures he needed for his publications. Being photographer and publisher gives us the scope to select unusual shots and to include places a little bit off the beaten track.

So, with strong family connections to the Highlands of Scotland, we finally succumbed to the pull of the far north and now live within striking distance of many of the areas which epitomise the things for which Scotland is most famous. Colin takes every opportunity to be off on a photography trip whenever weather conditions are fine so you may well meet him up a mountain or by a loch sometime!
